I've done a lot of writing and rather than put each one up here separately, I thought I would just make one post with all the links. If you like what I have to say about music, God, life, wisdom, authority, or whatever, here is a fairly comprehensive list:

This is related to the work I did with Juanita Price--I'm trying to break down the concepts into manageable bits for people who aren't familiar with her ideas or paradigm.

Another article that explores just a teaspoon of what I learned from Juanita Price

socyberty.com/Work/Authority.138857 [socyberty.com/Work/Authority.138857]
Juanita knew that part of the problem with authority is that we stuff too many concepts into that word. This article unpacks two of those concepts.

authspot.com/Journals/Decluttering.135399 [authspot.com/Journals/Decluttering.135399]
Part of my learning how to manage my house was to radically declutter, which I learned from the Flylady flylady.net [flylady.net] ). Decluttering physical objects leads to decluttering other aspects of life.

healthmad.com/Mental-Health/Depression.132062 [healthmad.com/Mental-Health/Depression.132062]
Here's what I have learned about handling depression. It has taken 47 years to learn some of these things and I hope this article helps someone else learn these things sooner.

How can we be thankful when bad things happen? Corrie Ten Boom's autobiography speaks of this. She learned to be thankful for lice! That reminds me that I can be thankful for the problems in my life, which are considerably less bothersome than lice (I've had lice, so I know).

relijournal.com/Christianity/Why-the-Bible.130036 [relijournal.com/Christianity/Why-the-Bible.130036]
A lot of people don't even open up the Bible because it seems to them like just any other book. This article explores one reason why it is different.

relijournal.com/Christianity/The-Blind-Men-and-the-Elephant.128969 [relijournal.com/Christianity/The-Blind-Men-and-the-Elephant.128969]
The God of the Bible is more complex than our little minds can imagine. This article explores that complexity.

relijournal.com/Christianity/Grace.125234 [relijournal.com/Christianity/Grace.125234]
Grace is a difficult concept for people to understand, although it is easy to obtain.

This is another article in which I share what I have learned, hoping that it helps someone else.

The Flylady (flylady.net) has influenced me for several years. I have been decluttering my home and learning how to take care of it. In fact, like the Flylady, I have become a radical declutterer!! Here is where decluttering has led me.

My husband makes furniture and has it on sale in this shop (he makes antique reproductions, colonial/primitive style). The lady who owns this shop, Brenda, is a really wonderful, caring person and we appreciate her commitment to good business practices.

I nominated audacity software. Audacity is recording software that allows you to record tracks. I have used this software for several years and it has helped me to do a number of interesting projects. In general, I love sourceforge.net and specifically I love audacity. Here is a podcast page I made to teach fiddle tunes.
woodshed.podomatic.com [woodshed.podomatic.com]
It's called "Tuesdays in the Woodshed" because we used to practice on Tuesdays. If you scroll down to "Bayou Pon Pon" that says "fancy version," you will hear me playing two fiddle parts, guitar, and Cajun triangle--something that wouldn't have been possible without track recording. In general, open source software keeps us from being totally dependent on Bill Gates and it challenges mainstream software coders to do something better.

We are to be thankful in all situations. Here's a story of when the reasons to be thankful for something awful became apparent.

I had the honor of meeting Homer Ledford a few times (and I played in an orchestra with one of his daughters). He was a great musician and a really nice person. He is another example of a talented, self-taught musician who was discovered during the "folk era." He came out on stage with a wheelbarrow full of instruments, all of which he would play during a show. He created a number of unique instruments.

There are a lot of stories about self-taught musicians who had to go to some lengths to get to play an instrument, whether it was by making a fiddle out of a cigar box or, in this case, sneaking one's brother's guitar out from under the bed. Elizabeth Cotton's story is also one that reminds us that artistic talent of various sorts may be hiding in plain sight.

Juanita Price was the wisest person I have ever met and I am grateful to God that I got to spend 26 years learning from her. Now that she is gone, I am doing what I can to spread her ideas. We have written so many things together, but they don't seem to have fit into any traditional type of publishing. I am so glad that the web allows everyone access to people's ideas instead of having to go through a publisher whose main concern is making money.
