Eddie LeJeune was a great Cajun accordion player and singer whose life was cut short at age 48. Traditional Cajun music is dance music and this is a terrific waltz.

Hazel Dickens is one of my favorite performers. Along with Alice Gerrard, she was one of the first women to perform bluegrass. Her voice is reflective of the Old Regular Baptist ornamented singing. The songs she has written are poetic in terms of evoking whole scenarios with just a few words.

What is neat about this site is that apparently you can tell them some vaguely remembered book you read as a kid and someone can tell you the title of the book and more details of it. You give them the plot and you might not even remember things correctly and apparently they can help!!

What attracted me to this blog is the title, which is a very apt description of how one feels with fibromyalgia. It has some good resources for people to read and consider if they have fibro or know someone who has it.

This is the tribe from which some of my ancestors came. These people live in Maine, which is where my father was from. When people ask me if I am part Native American, I tell them about the Penobscot people but few have ever heard of them. Well, now you know!!!

A student of mine came by who plays flute and he mentioned having heard of a contrabass flute, but never having seen one being played. So we checked on Youtube, and sure enough, here is a contrabass flute being played! Not just being played, but being played well.

This article is hard to swallow--and yet there is truth to it. If we respond better (avoiding anger and fear) to people who bully, often they stop bullying. The point, according to this author, is to not treat people as enemies--people who are treated as enemies often become enemies and the opposite is frequently true, also. I have experienced turning bullying people into friends by refusing my own desire to be angry and instead treat them with respect.

The nice thing about streaming audio is that y'all can enjoy what us expatriate Kentuckians have been enjoying for years here in Central Ohio--the Bluegrass Ramble. It's on Saturday and Sunday evenings from 6 pm to midnight (unless Ohio State has a hockey game). Look for WOSU AM 820. If you're local to Central Ohio, they announce all the bluegrass-related events coming up and even local bluegrass news about people around here.
